Jayakwadi Bird Sanctuary is a bird sanctuary. It is located near Jayakwadi
village in Paithan taluka of Sambhajinagar district in Maharashtra State,
India. The sanctuary is located in 30 islands of various sizes in the
shallow waters, with trees for roosting; this provides an ideal shelter for
migratory birds.
Spread across 1.25 sq km, it encompasses 30 islands of various sizes amidst
the shallow waters of the Nath Sagar Dam. These islands, dotted with trees,
provide an ideal habitat for a diverse range of birds, both resident and
migratory.
A Symphony of Feathers:
Over 170 bird species grace the sanctuary, with over 70 gracing it with their migratory presence. Imagine the spectacle!- Flamingo: These graceful ballerinas of the bird world, with their long legs, elegant beaks, and stunning pink plumage, are a major draw, especially during winter.
